Executive Management: Lucy Becker

Lucy BeckerVice-President,
Public Affairs and Member Education Services

As Vice-President, Public Affairs and Member Education Services, Lucy Becker is responsible for IIROC’s corporate communications program, public affairs and the creation and delivery of member education services and investor resources. As a member of IIROC’s Executive Management Team, she plays a leadership role in the regulator’s work on inclusion and diversity issues.

Lucy has more than 25 years of communications, public policy and stakeholder relations experience. Prior to joining IIROC in 2011, she led the Public Relations and Public Affairs team at one of Canada’s largest independent investment management firms as Vice-President.

Lucy’s regulatory experience includes serving on the executive team of the Law Society of Upper Canada where she was head of the Communications and Public Affairs department for six years. In this role, she shared responsibility for stakeholder outreach and engagement on a variety of equity issues to help the regulator be a role model for the legal community for inclusion and diversity.

She has diversified experience in the legal and financial sectors, solidified through her work within the Government of Ontario. She has worked with a range of portfolios including the Ministries of the Attorney General, Financial Institutions, Revenue and Economic Development and Trade. She has also provided consultancy services to the Toronto District School Board. Lucy began her career as a print reporter and her educational background includes journalism, political science and public administration.

Lucy has been a champion for LGBTQ2+ issues throughout her career as well as through her political involvement dating back to the 1990s.
