IIROC investigates complaints or inquiries about possible regulatory misconduct and conducts disciplinary actions where there is evidence that misconduct has taken place. Disciplinary proceedings are heard before a Hearing Panel comprised of two industry representatives and a member of the public who has legal training and acts as Chair. The panel can impose penalties such as fines, suspensions, permanent bars for individuals or termination of membership for Member firms.
